We’re super-excited to announce that Lokku, parent company of property search engine Nestoria, has bought Find Properly! This is not just good news for my overdraft – in the future Find Properly will be bigger and better than ever.
Since launching a little over a year ago, Find Properly has helped tens of thousands of people find somewhere to live in London. Our widgets have helped illustrate the trade-offs you have to make to live in this great city. And, hopefully, someone out there has found our loading quotes mildly amusing.
But for Find Properly to continue to grow and prosper, it is time for a proper team to take the reins.
Lots of our amazing/beautiful/awesome (delete as appropriate) users are looking for a place to rent with friends. Sharing in London makes so much sense. You can live somewhere more central, with your mates, for less money.
There are a few downsides to sharing – who is paying the bills, and why is there still washing up in the sink?
The average Londoner commutes for over an hour a day (so says the Daily Mail). This adds up to a (hot, stressful and expensive) year of your life.
You may dream of living closer to work, but find rents in central London unaffordable. Living in London usually requires a compromise between commute time and rent.
We’ve created a new widget that shows this tradeoff. Simply enter where you work and currently live, and we’ll show you the stations with a shorter commute and lower rent:
Our new widget is a thing of beauty
You may notice that the ‘nicest’ areas won’t appear. Chelsea and Hampstead (for instance) all have pretty poor transport connections and are super expensive. Clearly there is more to deciding where to live than commute time, but we think it is a good start!
Have a play and let us know what you think.
If you’ve just graduated and are planning to move to London – welcome! Contrary to media reports you won’t melt on the tube and the air won’t kill you.
However, the scare-stories about housing in London are partly true: finding somewhere to live in London can be difficult. Especially if you are on a budget.
For people moving to London for the first time, the property hunt is extra-daunting. But Find Properly – the only property portal to help people moving to London – is here with a handy guide! Continue reading
Our goal is to make finding a place to live in London as quick and painless as possible.
Partly this can be achieved by making as much data about the property and the area filter-able (new word!) as possible. If you care about crime or greenspace or time on the market, with one click you can exclude all properties that don’t meet your criteria. Instant time saving!
So this blog post is all about introducing our new search filter – and we think it’s our best one! Continue reading
Four months ago, Find Properly started listing all the properties for sale in London.
Since then we’ve been working hard to improve the experience for our property-purchasing visitors. At first, the same information was given for properties for sale and properties to rent – a generous mix of area stats and nearby stations.
But we quickly realised – for properties for sale, this wasn’t good enough. Continue reading
London is truly a glutton’s city. All the World’s cuisines are on offer.
We’re so spoilt, new restaurants are cropping up with regional varieties of once-exotic cuisines. “Plain old” Chinese food is no longer good enough. We now get to choose between tongue-scorching Sichuan or subtle Cantonese flavours.
And if you needed any more evidence of the finger-licking awesomeness of London’s food scene, a French chef (i.e the enemy) has called London the restaurant capital of the world. Voila, it must be true. Continue reading
