London is truly a glutton’s city. All the World’s cuisines are on offer.
We’re so spoilt, new restaurants are cropping up with regional varieties of once-exotic cuisines. “Plain old” Chinese food is no longer good enough. We now get to choose between tongue-scorching Sichuan or subtle Cantonese flavours.
And if you needed any more evidence of the finger-licking awesomeness of London’s food scene, a French chef (i.e the enemy) has called London the restaurant capital of the world. Voila, it must be true.
Where should the greedy live?
The most exotic, trendy and expensive restaurants are generally clustered in the centre, around Soho. So if you are looking for Michelin stars, you’ll need to head for Zone 1.
But what about the areas that are packed with local, affordable and tasty places to eat? These are the best neighbourhoods to live – no one wants to trek into town for the typical “it’s Tuesday and I can’t be bothered to cook” dinner. And, as you might expect, Find Properly can help.
Find Properly shows nearby restaurants for every property we list. We use Yelp’s awesome data, so not only do we have every restaurant in London, we have customer ratings for most of these places as well!
To calculate a restaurant score for each property we combine – using a super complicated formula that is definitely not just a weighted average 😉 – all the nearby restaurant ratings and the inverse distance between the restaurant and property. Lots of good restaurants nearby indicate a good area for the peckish.
As is customary, we’ve now plotted all this data on an interactive map of London:
The good news is the best areas are spread around London. You don’t need to travel to central London for somewhere tasty to eat.
Check out the map and make sure you find somewhere to live in a restaurant hot spot!
And for dessert…
We’ve also crunched the data for the best nightlife areas in London. Follow us on Twitter and you’ll be first to know when we publish it!
